In additon to those described above, one of the chief reasons that Locum Tenens has enjoyed so much popularity in recent years is the fact that Locum Tenens physicians report having a much higher degree of satisfaction with their jobs than do physicians who assume long-term assignments. Recent years have seen a steady increase in administrative responsibilities, but in spite of this fact, Locum Tenens physicians have reported that they feel less affected and have fewer complaints regarding this issue than physicians in long-term positions. These factors have certainly contributed greatly to the rise in the number of physicians who are employed in Locum Tenens job positions in the northwest.

Other issues that have been cited by physicians who were interviewed about why they choose to practice in a short-term basis include complaints about managed health care, and also the increasing difficulty of collecting medicare and medicaid reimbursment. Again, surveys of Locum Tenens physicians in the northwest have yeilded fewer complaints regarding these issues.
